The accounting firm Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP (DHG) has announced the recipients of its 2019 Community IMPACT Awards. The awards recognize the individual and the DHG market who have shown extraordinary initiative in the community by volunteering the most service hours during the 2019 fiscal year. Erin Loder, a marketing associate in the Norfolk, VA office, is the recipient of the individual award, and the DHG Norfolk, VA is the recipient of the market award.

“From volunteering at food banks to participating in charity runs, to creating recycling programs in our offices, our people have an IMPACT on our culture, our health, our local communities and the world in which we live,” said Pat Shuler, President of the DHG Foundation. “Our commitment to the health and well-being of our people, our communities and our profession gives us all meaningful purpose, and it’s a part of who we are as ONE DHG.”

At DHG’s annual partner meeting, DHG Foundation President Pat Shuler recognized both award recipients at an annual awards ceremony. Erin Loder and DHG Norfolk office managing partner, Tom Hazelwood received monetary donations to give to a non-profit organization of their choice that will support their endeavors in the community in the year to come.

Erin volunteers her time with military families through the USO (the United Service Organization) which provides entertainment, meals and family activities for active duty and retired military. She is also actively involved in the Blue Star Families Organization, which was founded by military spouses and exists to strengthen families by connecting them with individuals and organizations to create mutual support.

DHG Norfolk has provided professional services across Virginia for more than 85 years, and its local professionals have focused on building a collaborative internal team and community relationships throughout the Hampton Roads region. The Norfolk office volunteers with and supports organizations such as the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, Union Mission Ministries, and United Way of South Hampton Roads.
